Abstract

This study discusses Dr. Hassan Hanafy's methods in criticizing and questioning the reliability of hadeeths in Sahih Al-Bukhari. It breaks down his methods and highlights his most important writings on Sahih Al-Bukhari, particularly those in which he criticizes prophetic hadeeths. The study aims to clarify the lack of scientific methodology that Hassan Hanafy follows when dealing with prophetic hadeeths in general and Sahih Al-Bukhari specifically.
Following a critical inductive approach, I relied on grouping, analyzing, and critiquing his writings, and identifying any flaws found in them. The most important findings of this research are:
1. Hassan Hanafy does not believe that Sunnah is one of the main sources of Islam.
2. He relies on unmethodological doubt.
3. He uses mockery in his criticism.
4. He demonstrates a clear ignorance in the study of prophetic hadeeth and Al-Bukhari's methodology.
The result of this research demonstrates that his claims are weak. I urge further study of famous critics of prophetic hadeeths, especially Sahih Al-Bukhari. Countering the most well-known criticisms will adequately respond to their followers and influence
