Abstract

Through this study, the researcher aims to explore the features of argumentative discourse employed by many writers as a crucial mechanism of the text, enabling the writer to achieve their objectives through specific strategies. Abdullah Faraj Al-Sharif is considered one of the most prominent essayists in Saudi Arabia, who has relied heavily on argumentative techniques in his articles. Thus, this research focuses on analyzing his articles as a case study. The study is titled Manifestations of Argumentation in the Articles of Abdullah Faraj Al-Sharif: An Analytical Vision, aiming to identify the defining characteristics of the Saudi essay and its argumentative methods. One of the primary reasons for choosing Al-Sharif's articles is their widespread popularity, making them a significant literary phenomenon that merits an exploration of their literary features. The study seeks to understand the reasons behind employing argumentation in Saudi essays in general, and particularly in Al-Sharif’s writings. Accordingly, the study’s central question emerges: What are the argumentative mechanisms that the Saudi writer Abdullah Al-Sharif relied on in his articles? The study adopts an analytical argumentative approach to identify the key features and manifestations of argumentation in his works. The research is structured into an introduction, two main chapters, a conclusion, and a bibliography.
